Letter From The Mayor
We often hear that Starbuck is "a great place to visit, a better place to live". In my case, it is a chosen location. I enjoyed the communiuty and area while vacationing, and it became my permanent retirement home. Appealing and accessible, Starbuck offers many advantages, defining the picturesque description of "a small town by a big lake". We enjoy living in a town of less than 1400. But that number swells in the summer as resorts fill, distant owners of lake cabins return for the season, and camper, boaters, and fishermen return to Lake Minnewaska - the 13th largest lake in the state. Nature lovers appreciate that we share our lakeside location with many interesting examples of Minnesota wildlife. For your enjoyment, Starbuck offers our top-rated beach adjacent to beautiful Starbuck City Park Campground, which has 102 camping sites. We enjoy "Water's Edge", our excellent lakeside supper club (one of four on our 8 mile long Lake). Starbuck's famous Dairy Queen is conveniently located across from Hobo Park and the marina. We have other unique eateries for your choice of menu. Our local businesses provide for your every need, including medical, recreational, lodging, pharmacy, financial, insurance, personal care and educational needs - to name just a few. We are pround of our Minnewaska Lutheran Home and Holly Ridge Manor facilities, including therapy and home health care services. Our area is steepd in history, starting as a village of the Northern Pacific Railway in 1883. We have an industrial park and an Airport. We're at the crossroads of MN Hwy 28, 29 and 114 - just 7 miles from Glacial Lakes State Park. Whether Starbuck is your vacation or year-round destination, I invite you to experience our close-knit community and the many friendly people here. Just see what Starbuck can offer. Come to play - you may decide to stay!
